Montréal Signs Project

More projection mapping!

In 2019, several teams of students in our COMS374 Intermedia II class produced some awe-inspiring projections on some of the signs in the MSP collection. We’re delighted to report that this year’s Intermedia II class revisited this creative approach to remediating MSP signs in the CJ building, in a well-attended vernissage and celebration titled Convergence Media Fest, which was held on April 12, 2022. The specific technique used by the students is called projection mapping, in which their videos, stills, and animations can be projected onto preselected portions of the signs’ surfaces (or the surrounding walls). The time involved to plan, animate, and execute these projects is considerable, so congratulations once again to our resourceful and creative Intermedia students and their instructors Professors Razan AlSalah and Teresa Connors!
